Peter Strom is a two-time American Lindy Hop Champion in the Classic (2000 1st place) and Showcase (2001 3rd place) divisions. He also won 1st place at the 2003 North Atlantic Dance Championships (Strictly Lindy Division) and 3rd place at the 2002 North Atlantic Dance Championships Champions Jack and Jill. He has taught at national workshops including Beantown, the Great Southwest Lindyfest, Lindy U as well as in Sweden and Singapore and he has been a featured instructor at weekend workshops in San Diego, Chicago, Washington DC, Toronto, Cincinnati, Denver, Milwaukee, Omaha, and at Purdue University.
Peter first learned to dance almost exclusively on the dance floor, and over the past four years he has studied at intensive dancing and teaching workshops under the biggest names in Lindy Hop all over the nation as well as the world. He teaches regular classes with the Lindy Movement in Minneapolis of which he is a founding member, and his choreography with the Lindy Movement has been performed at the North Atlantic Dance Championships, Frankie Manning’s 88th Birthday Celebration in New York City, and at the Harlem Jazz Dance Festival where it was lauded by the New York Times. His love of social dancing drives his teaching and in his classes, Peter strives to help his students learn how to create dancing on their own that flows easily from the music and between both partners.
